Well that’s nearly it for 2015.
Classes are finished for 2015 and Shield HQ is due a good scrubbing for the New Year.
It’s hard to believe that Shield HQ has been open for a year! It has made a massive difference to our club with a greater number of classes and training equipment available. We’re looking forward to adding more!
Heres a recap of a great 2015:
Back in February we had the pleasure of hosting Rory Miller for his Violence scenario training course over 2 days. As well as being very entertaining (you had to be there! ) It was a great experience to learn from a genuine global expert on everything Violence related. You can read more on Rory here http://www.chirontraining.com/Site/Home.html
In August we started the first ever parent and kids Krav Maga class. This really was a first in Krav Maga and we weren’t sure how it would work out but our planning and class design has paid off with it being a great success. More classes are planned for the New Year. Here’s some of the fun from the recent kids grading.
In September the team ventured out of the gym and into the mountains climbing two Munros, some of the guys for the first time ever! We like to mix the training up and you can’t beat a Scottish mountain ( or two) for a good leg workout. More outings are being planned for next year!
Being big kids ourselves we threw a Halloween party for our members, it was brilliant and will definitely become an annual fixture at Shield HQ. https://youtu.be/gvwmLXLVvUY (Don’t watch if easily scared)
With our own space we have been able to offer more classes and opportunities to people wanting to learn Krav Maga. In November we launched our 4 week beginner’s course, with twice a week training on the fundamentals of Krav Maga before joining the regular classes. Both courses at the end of the year have been well attended and we’re looking forward to starting our third one on January 12th. Here’s what the folk who took part thought of the course;
“The shield krav maga beginner’s course is an ideal way to get into krav maga. Starting at the same time as other beginners is less daunting and Chris and Brendan make everyone feel welcome and involved. Then course provides a great introduction to the training and techniques involved in krav Maga.” Keith angus
“You improve your physical conditioning learning to defend yourself. Techniques are practical and easy to understand. Classes are intense, flexible and friendly. Try it!”
Ronnie Duncan
“Get in and try it, you’ll have a blast!” Nikolaos Stafylarakis
If you would like to join our first beginners course in 2016 on Tuesday the 12th Jan 2016 then sign up here https://shieldkravmaga.com/book-induction/
We finished off the year with a great team night out at Cafe India for some “curry-oke” which thankfully and probably for your own good you won’t get to see any evidence of…..
well…… not unless you join the team and search the members group that is.
All that’s really left to say is have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year.
Thanks to everyone, especially all our awesome members for making it an amazing first year at Shield HQ
Stay safe and see you next year for more fun!
Cheers
Chris, Brendan and everyone at Shield
